Update: 12/01/2022: We have received more than $4,000 toward a van for Ramon. Thank you for your prayers and support. I have ridden in the van that we are replacing recently: it is scary, though it still runs. I depend on Ramon or Felipe to escort me when I visit Mexico, since it has become dangerous to take a US vehicle into Mexico. We are encouraged with the response that we have seen, knowing that it is a sacrifice. A replacement van will cost $10,000-12,000, so we continue to praise the Lord and gather donations toward the vehicle. Thank you, Partners!
Over the years, the ministry has received many quality vehicles from you, our wonderful partners. Most of these donations were associated with the children’s homes that we operated until mid 2016 when the policies of child welfare in Mexico changed making it impossible for us to operate homes for children and evangelize the children at the same time. It was with great sadness that we recognized that the leading of the Lord for us had shifted toward evangelism. We trained the staff in Natural Medicine and have been an evangelistic ministry ever since. Though we have many wonderful memories of those precious thirty years, we moved on to our new assignment. We greatly appreciate the engagement of our partners through the transition to the type of benevolence, teaching, preaching, and healing ministry that we have become. We still mend broken people, just as we did when we had custody of hundreds of precious children. So that mission has not changed.
Ramon and Norma have been depending on a minivan that was kindly donated to the ministry in late 2012 (sent as one of three vehicles). The other vehicles were retired several years ago, but this one has held up very well. Ramon is good with vehicles. He has access to “Brother Carlos”, our mechanic, who was saved under this ministry many years ago. Nonetheless, the vehicle must be replaced. I asked Ramon to find a suitable replacement which will make it possible for his family to continue to minister to the families and communities in Piedras Negras. Ramon and Norma are also very helpful to Adolfo, assisting him in his ministry. This family regularly engages in evangelistic or discipleship outreaches in the neighborhood close to their house in Piedras Negras. They tutor school children, and help the elderly as they learn of needs. In addition to these duties, they expect to resume teaching seminars in natural medicine as the COVID restrictions are progressively relaxed.
Ramon found a van type that he can use to replace the old one. It is available in Piedras Negras for about $8,000. This is not a new van, but their needs are not as stringent as are those of Pedro and Adolfo. We are very grateful for the response that we received during the appeal for vehicles for both Pedro’s and Adolfo’s ministries. Each of them bought good, reliable vehicles with the donations that our partners sent. Pictures of the van Ramon selected are included below. Of course the van in the pictures may or not be on the market when we have finished raising the money, but there are other comparable vehicles. God bless you, Partners!
Update: This price will not be available for long and Ramon will probably have to shop again by the time funds are raised. Ramon has found another vehicle that costs more, but it is a better vehicle. In light of this, our target should be $10,000. Thank you.
