Hungry Kids International supports the advancement of the form of natural medicine known as Naturopathy. This is distinct from the holistic medical traditions that are steeped in idolatry. We are not new age, nor do we practice any form of witchcraft including tribal medicine. Though we have enough exposure to these practices to recognize them when we see them, we reject them as unacceptable to God. Our practice is based on what God provided for humanity when he planted the Garden of Eden and set man in it to work the garden. Everything necessary for life, health, and healing was provided in the Garden including, but not limited to the tree of life which was the perfect food/medicine for mankind. The garden provided sunlight, water, nutrition, and exercise. Because of the daily presence of God, Adam could rest, control his desires, and daily trust God for continued life and provision. The health essentials could be summarized thus: proper nutrition, exercise, pure water, proper exposure to sunlight, rest, pure air, self control, and faith in God.
Health and healing do not come from doctors or from medicines. Naturally speaking, only the body can repair and heal itself. This capacity is only possible due to the spirit that God breathed into us. The body has a spring of vital energy that cannot be reduced to chemistry and physics. This implies nothing more than God’s gift of life to us that can use the essentials provided in the garden to cleanse the body of toxic waste, repair tissue damage, and refresh vital energy. If the body is given what it needs to live and heal while being allowed to dispose of toxins and is protected from harmful influences it will heal. It is amazing that this process works even for people who have no relationship with God at all, but it does. Yet it works best for those who know Jesus, have faith in the word of God, walk in love, and trust that God always sends healing to them. Faith in God begins where the will of God is known, and his will is written in the Bible. The Bible is a big book, so effort is required to study and obey, but the author is on call to help anyone who asks him for help. The help of trusted pastors or mature believers are vital in God’s plan for our health in all areas of life including spirit, soul, body, finance, and society.
What is called Orthodox medicine (Allopathic Medicine or Allopathy) treats symptoms with government approved chemicals, calling these cures. Allopathy has its place. In fact, it is vital for stabilizing crisis situations, but it is not as impressive for healing chronic diseases where the whole person must be involved in health maintenance to succeed. Naturopathy is not popular because it requires the recognition of a personal responsibility for one’s own life and health. The Bible teaches us that we are personally responsible to God for the deeds done in the body. This includes the way we treat our amazing bodies as well as the way we treat each other. Many are called, but few are chosen. The chosen have themselves chosen to pursue righteousness even at great cost. Look for more teaching to follow.
