Pedro and Fabiola usually spend their time working with children, and They still do that, but the substantial waves of people migrating toward the US border has presented a situation the must be addressed. We could view this as a distraction, but it is better that we view it as an opportunity. Most missionary organizations spend large budgets to send missionaries deep into other countries. I am not disparaging this model, nevertheless when people come to our neighborhood and are in need it is a gift from God to the ministers of the Gospel. We don’t have to go to them. They are coming to us! The immigrants mix at the border with locals and are all competing for jobs, attention, and benevolence. The crowds move quickly, so we do not have months to plan. A lost opportunity is likely a lost soul. We must reach out with the resources that we have and draw them into the Kingdom of God. This involves benevolence ministry, since people are more likely to listen to someone who helps them than they are to listen to free advice from people who are no help to them. They are precious in the sight of God, and many of them will be won to the Gospel. The opportunity is neither easy nor free, but the Lord has given us access to one of his rich harvest fields, and it is ripe for harvest. It is better to win them to Jesus at the border than to later become the neighbor of ungodly people who worship other gods and who do not share our knowledge of righteousness.
