The students are not only taught the basics, but they are taught how to construct a plan and work the plan. Chess is an ancient game of wit and skill, but it is exactly what children need to teach forethought and strategy. These skills are missing in action in most of the schools which I hear about in the USA. And yes, there are a lot of basics to cover…and cover…and cover. Thank God for patient teachers.
