Harvest Ministries is now has a new name. It is Harvest Health International Ministries (HHIM). The ministry was founded and is operated by Dr. and Mrs. Albert Romo, M.D., N.D. His relationship with Hungry Kids International goes back to the early 2000s when we were supporting his missionary work in the villages located in the region of Piedras Negras, Allende, Nava, etc. We consulted him in the process of establishing and stabilizing his ministry. He in turn trained me (Bob King, Jr., N.D.) in natural medicine. So I am his pastor and he is my medical mentor. We are authorized to advertise his ministry activities (we support him regularly and help him with special projects.). He is also promoting our ministry in Mexico.
The ministry has been active in the state of Chiapas, bordering Guatemala. Much of this region has been closed to missionaries for decades. There is a great hunger for the Gospel in the people of this region. Some areas of these mountainous jungles are still very dangerous, but by invitation from tribal leaders and local pastors, the Romos have been able to minister in that state. Natural medicine has been key to the door, but the door stays open because the Romos keep their promises. They teach public health based on eight laws of health, which are proper nutrition, exercise, pure water, proper exposure to sunshine, self control, pure air, rest, and faith in God. Dr. Romo treats patients, and trains medical missionaries to go into the jungles that he cannot go himself. These missionaries are enthusiastic and have enjoyed great success in preaching the Gospel and in ministering healing by teaching people how to care for themselves. There are local pastors who look to him for help and guidance.
