These children are part of the ministry of Dentist Dr. Horacio in Bachilon, Chiapas. He has inherited nine congregations when a reformed denomination withdrew from the state of Chiapas. This left the congregations abandoned, but Dr. Horacio was able to add these congregations to the two that he had been pastoring. Praise the Lord for the faith of this Brother in Christ who stepped up to meet the need for leadership in his area. He now oversees 200 children. Harvest Ministries has come along side to assist him in establishing the congregations through the transition. It is vital that the Kingdom of God continues to stand firm and expand.
Dr Romo and Alice are presently in Chiapas to finish training a group of students as medical missionaries. They are helping Dr. Horacio pour a floor in the Sunday School room with an adjacent restroom. that project is costing about $900. There is a kitchen that also needs a floor, but there is not sufficient funding at this time. Though these people are accustomed to live, cook, and work on bare dirt floors, the jungles are full of parasites which infest the children. Floors are very important. Dr. Romo can treat the children for parasites, but the infection vectors must be eliminated. Concrete floors are an important part of that process.
Many of us have problems closer to home, but as the Lord directs, there are many missions projects in the Body of Christ that need assistance. Harvest Ministries provides us with a channel to help these congregations. Thank you for your prayers.
