Hungry Kids International (also known as Bob King Ministries) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of underprivileged children in Mexico by providing a loving home environment where each child can feel safe and secure.
The mission: "To provide a loving home, quality education, and spiritual enrichment to children in need." Our job is to mend broken lives through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and help these precious ones to find their place in the Kingdom, thus imparting a better life, a better hope, and a better future.
A Loving Home
HKI receives children in a variety of ways: some are sent by courts; other by the DIF (Mexican welfare office); and some by parents or neighbors who know the children will be loved and well cared for. Since the first home opened its doors on June 2, 1986, no child has ever been turned away--each precious little one received with open arms!
Education is very important to us as we believe it is key to a better future.
Beginning in 2008, children attend public school from kindergarten through high school. We provide home schooling for school-age children with special needs such as those who have not previously attended school, or for those who have been delayed in securing a birth certificate.
We are so pleased to say that, over the past twenty-two years, after high school graduation many of our children have gone on to attend collage and have launched various careers in their chosen field. Some have chosen to gain a bible school education. Others have chosen trade school.
According to Peter Drucker, the "product" of an effective non-profit organization is "a changed human being". Without the evidence of changed lives, the non-profit organization is not fulfilling its purpose. We believe that it takes God's love to heal the hurting hearts of the little ones who come to us. Through spiritual nourishment, broken lives are being changed and made whole. Through Iglesia Del Rey (Church of the King) in El Moral, and Iglesia Pacto de Paz (Covenant of Peace Church) in Piedras Negras, the children learn about God's love for them, what the Bible teaches, and what it is like to belong within a family of faith.
A Bible verse that helps keep us focused on our mission is found in Galatians chapter 4, verse 19, " My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, ..."
